Reviewing Diablo 3, The Order
Post: 2012-07-01 23:29:00For many of us, myself included, Deckard Cain's departure from the world of Sanctuary has left a glaring hole in the collective lore of the Diablo universe. Don't feel bad if you keep returning to Act I to save him from the Cathedral over and over again, in the desperate hope that it will somehow change Chris Metzen's mind and allow Uncle Deckard to remain with us. It won't work. I know, I tried... But after I got over the denial stage of things I happened upon a new source of Deckard Cain lore. Much like finding an old photograph of a lost love one, it soothed the pain of loss and reminded me of the general awesomeness that was Deckard Cain, Last of the Horadrim. The most competitive Price. If you're still reading after that rather sentimental introduction, then I probably owe it to you to explain. I am of course speaking about the first full length novel set specifically in the Diablo 3 universe, 'The Order' by Nate Kenyon. For those unfamiliar with the author, Nate Kenyon is a horror and science- fiction writer, who has also worked with Blizzard in the Starcraft universe. I was absolutely delighted to discover an entire 372 page novel about my favorite Diablo character. While I already knew that there was a rich depth of history and conflict embodied in the person of Deckard Cain, in 'The Order' we are finally given an opportunity to see what kept the old guy ticking, through not one, but three Diablo games (well maybe, two and a quarter).
